Erik Hassle's "No Words" - Song Review

My unhealthy but welcomed crush on Erik Hassle and his sultry vocals can be traced back to the release of his criminally underrated and beautiful debut single, "Hurtful", in 2008. The song is still a major staple in my daily music intake and deserved much more attention than it initially received.

Hassle released a couple of solid albums, disappeared from the music scene for a while, then made a mighty comeback with the release of Somebody's Party, an extended play which teetered on the borderlines of pop, soul and R&B. Tracks such as "Talk About It" and "What Is He Like" brought him back into the spotlight in 2014 and every critic was wondering what he would do next. He just answered us all.

"No Words" immediately stands out from the rest of the 25-year-old's catalog for its insanely catchy pop production and its optimistic vibe and message. Hassle is not singing about lost love and heartache, for once, but rather the strange feelings he gets when he's standing near the one who currently has his heart. He is at a loss for words.

Hassle remains calm and controlled, still slightly depressed, on his new single, even if he is trying to keep warm and fuzzy feelings bottled up. "I'm out of words babe, no way to explain, why you lookin' at me, what you doin' to me," he croons on the midtempo song's hook. Hassle commands that hook with pitch perfect vocals that will make any listener fall head over heels in love with the listener. If for some reason they weren't already. That would be dumb.

For the lead single off his upcoming studio album, "No Words" is a nice reintroduction to the artist who have missed out on his last EP (seriously got check it out here). The adorable track is a sharp and polished effort that will surely resonate with a large audience if promoted right. From the impressive vocal performance to the sweet, touching lyrics... this song is a bonafide hit.
