Flawless Diamond Sells For Record Price

     This spectacular 101.73 carat D flawless diamond sold this week for $26.7 million or $254,400 per carat setting a new world record price for a colorless diamond sold at an auction.  The diamond, the most perfect stone ever offered for sale at auction, was part of Christie's Magnificent Jewels sale in Geneva.  The buyer was Harry Winston who's name has been given to the beautiful stone, the "Winston Legacy."
     Unlike most high profile stones sold at auction in recent years, this diamond was discovered fairly recently in De Beers' Jwaneng mine.  It began as a 236 carat rough that took 27 months to polish.
